Glasgow rockers Attica Rage are pleased to announce and officially welcome Colin Wilson from Bellshill, Lanarkshire as the band's new bass guitarist.
Formerly with Stitch and Hellatus, Colin replaces original bassist Big C who left at the end of last year. Colin joins the existing Attica Rage line-up of Coatbridge guitarist Stevie Bell and Ayrshire brothers and founding members, drummer Richie Rage and singer/guitarist Jonny Parr. Fans can read the full statement on their new, official blog that has just been launched at atticarage.wordpress.com.
"We've known Colin for a few years now so we already had a bond there but after the recent auditions and trial gigs with him, we knew he was the right person for the job", comments front-man Jonny Parr on the new recruit. "He's a pro bass player with great backing vocals and harmonies and is also a songwriter but most of all, he brings a fresh energy and enthusiasm to the band."
Colin adds, "It's an honour to be a part of this band - I've always been a fan so getting the chance to play the songs I already love with the band is even better. I look forward to meeting all the Clan Attica on tour and working on the new album!"
2011 was a busy year for Attica Rage that saw the release of their critically-acclaimed second album 'Road Dog' on Rocksector Records, launched with a main-stage showcase at Hammerfest III in Wales. In summer, the band opened the Metal Hammer stage to thousands of fans at the High Voltage Festival in London, sharing the bill with metal legends Judas Priest, Dream Theater, Slash and Thin Lizzy amongst others. Other live highlights included headlining the ‘Rock For Funds’ Glasgow charity event, helping to raise over £4000 for the Yorkhill Children's Foundation; returning to Manchester for SOS Fest 2011 and their second trip to Ibiza for the HRH Road Trip festival. A 12-date UK headline tour followed in September, including their first visit to Northern Ireland and a special Glasgow homecoming show where they performed the Road Dog album live in full, accompanied with guest musicians Dave Arcari on slide guitar, Christie Connor-Vernal on cello and Steve Lightbody on keyboards. The full set was filmed for a future DVD release and the show also featured a special guest set by NWOBHM pioneers Praying Mantis. In November, Attica Rage parted ways with long-term bassist Big C in November due to personal commitments. The band completed 2011 with a short UK tour supporting Die So Fluid (with guest bassist Mark Marshall) and further headline gigs with Colin Wilson auditioning on bass before being offered the full-time position.
With the band line-up now complete, Attica Rage have begun working on new material for their next album with a release planned for later this year. The Scottish rockers will also be touring extensively across the UK and Europe throughout the year. Attica Rage make their first visit to Belgium in March to headline the Wizzfest 2012 festival in Aalter on Saturday 24th March, with a warm-up gig at De Veerlichte Geest in Roeselare on Friday 23rd March. Full UK & European tour dates will be confirmed soon.
Richie Rage summarises, "2012 is the start of a new chapter for Attica Rage and with Colin now in place, we're all just itching to get stuck in and get the Rage machine rolling again!"
