The Take the Test Roadshow was in Asda in Coatbridge on Thursday 7 March to help raise awareness of bowel cancer and highlight the benefits of screening.

The roadshow is part of the Scottish Government’s Detect Cancer Early campaign to encourage people between the ages of 50 and 74 to participate in the Scottish Bowel Screening programme.

Operation Myriad

Strathclyde Police launched a Lanarkshire wide operation on the 25th January in response to vehicle related crime, Itinerant metal dealers, rouge traders, and businesses operating in metal dealing who are not adhering to lawful registrations.  Police Officers along with the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), North & South Lanarkshire Trading Standards and the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) were involved in operation Myriad which is the forces response to dealing with number of criminal matters.

It seeks and has financial and non-financial partnerships with the public sector, voluntary sector and private sector.

Strathclyde Police in partnership with Trading Standards and Strathclyde Fire & Rescue are delighted to report a success in their firework initiative.  The initiative which ran in North Lanarkshire prior to fireworks night seen Trading Standards Officers working alongside Police Officers visiting premises which were selling fireworks.  This was to ensure the safe sale and storage of the explosives.  Close monitoring of Fire crews attending fires was also high on the agenda to eradicate attacks on the service which proved to be successful with no violence reported. The joint action produced a positive result which has seen firework incidents drop by 11% from the amount of calls Police attended last year and there was a reduction of 22% in criminal offences committed by members of the public.
