Opening Weekend Success At Decks Coatbridge

Decks Coatbridge Tesco Extra on Faraday Retail Park, opened its doors to the public at the weekend and business was booming. The new restaurant opened on Friday 29th August at 8am and after having a conversation with Lynn Smeaton (General Manager) on Saturday, she said business had got off to a flyer as it was busy all day.

I actually visited the restaurant on Saturday morning and on first impression the exterior looked modern, stylish and made Tesco look even better. I was greeted by friendly staff and was seated immediately and after speaking with Lynn Smeaton, who was very friendly and helpful with any questions I had about the restaurant, I then tried out the breakfast for myself. I went for the all you can eat breakfast and thought the quality of food was fantastic. Short ques at the buffet table, food was warm but also a bonus that the plates weren't hot as you get with some buffets. The foods I had which made up my all you can eat breakfast were..

Fried Eggs - These were my favourite part of the buffet, they were made perfectly, very soft and not too greasy.

Bacon - The Bacon was easy to cut through and easy to chew on which was a delight, it was crispy but not too much which I personally prefer.

Link/Square Sausage - The sausages again were easy to cut through, perfectly cooked all round and a brilliant taste.

Black Pudding - Never tasted black pudding like this, had a unique taste and wasn't to strong which blended it with the other items perfectly.

Beans - The beans were at the right heat, not piping hot, and they were very soft.

Eggy Bread - French toast as some would know it, this was a great addition to my breakfast and it tasted great. Again not too greasy which is a feature of the Decks food.

There was a lot more selection ranging from Potato Scones, Toast, Scrambled eggs  and many more which I am going to be trying in the future as the breakfast had already worked it's magic on me and I couldn't eat another bite.

All staff were very helpful and came up the right amount of times to check on how I was getting on with my meal, not to in your face, which is always a major thing. From looking around the restaurant I could see that every customer was being treated the same, all staff were smiling and being friendly. All in all I was very satisfied with my visit and even more so with the food, I will be back 100% for not only the breakfast but also to try the fantastic looking roast deck and the deli deck which provides a great range of fresh subs.

25 New Jobs As Coatbridge Family-Friendly Restaurant Launches

A modern Scottish restaurant serving all the classics from morning to evening but in a fresh

fuss-free way - has created 25 new jobs for Coatbridge.

Decks Coatbridge Tesco Extra on Faraday Retail Park, South Circular Road,, opens its three new

eating ‘decks’ on Friday 29th August from 8am and is a retail-based casual dining concept serving

up a slice of homeand the best of Scottish food – like a proper breakfast, a classic roast for all the

family and a good old-fashioned cuppa and indulgent cake.

What’s more, it’s all about convenience and comfort, a nice place to sit, dining at your own pace

and enjoying the freedom of ‘eating with your eyes’ – choosing and helping yourself to food and

being able to see in front of you the freshness and quality of ingredients and even how they’re

prepared and where they come from?

Decks Coatbridge general manager, Lynn Smeaton (31), explains: “If you’ve often wondered

where to eat in Coatbridge for wholesome, honest, real food – with plenty of choice -  that both

looks and tastes good, then you’ve come to the right place. Decks Coatbridge celebrates the

best of home cooking and embodies the simplicity, warmth and authenticity of it. It seeks to

satisfy our renewed interest in our own produce as well as the rejuvenation of quintessentially.

British eating customs – specifically the full cooked breakfast, the Sunday roast and tea for two.

“We’re becoming much more switched on to the importance of good food, freshness, seasonality

but we also want it now and on the spot, wherever our busy day takes us. We haven’t got time to

prepare home-cooked meals as well as fit in the shopping, work, collecting the kids from school

dropping them off at clubs, going to the gym, etc. Plus, we don’t want to pay through the nose for it.

While the current market proves we’re willing to spend more on good food, despite the nation’s

economic difficulties, it also highlights the importance of value for money – and we tick all these boxes.

“We don’t scrimp on portions or ingredients; there’s plenty of it and plenty of choice too - something for

everyone. We haven’t held back on our fully equipped and state-of-the-art kitchen either, to prepare and

cook all our freshly made food from scratch. The new team at Decks Coatbridge is the best too. We like

what we do, we’re interested in our customers and we’re keen to satisfy them. We’re passionate and

knowledgeable about the food we serve – and this means we’re enthusiastic about sharing it with others.”

Henderson of Hamilton, 2014 Scottish Beef Sausage Champions

The Scottish Beef Sausage Final was held in May in Perth, bringing together other regional champions from East Lothian, Inverness, Falkirk and Saltcoats.

A panel of experts were then given the tough task of picking the winner but they decided Hendersons of Hamilton was the best butcher’s Beef Sausages in Scotland for 2014.

“We are delighted at winning such a prestigious championship and to be declared the Scottish Beef Sausage Champions. The sausages are made here in the shop at Hamilton to the same recipe that my father used back in the 1970s. We use only prime cuts of scotch beef blended with the finest of spices and peppers. Beef Sausages are our top selling line and are clearly a favourite with our customers here in Hamilton." - Andrew HendersonThe award puts the Newcross Centre butchers, Hendersons of Hamilton in the top echelon of Scottish sausage makers.

Winter Safety

Scottish Fire and Rescue ServiceScottish Fire and Rescue Service’s (SFRS) Group Manager Paul Devlin, Head of Prevention and Prevention for North Lanarkshire is urging people to join in the fight against fire this winter.

He stated “Within North Lanarkshire sadly house fires are still occurring too often and SFRS are asking local communities to support them in reducing the fire risk by firstly ensuring their homes are fitted with a working smoke detector and secondly giving their homes a fire safety check.  If anyone doesn’t have a working smoke detector in their home they are at greater risk in the event of a fire within their home and SFRS are here to help. We offer a free home fire safety visit which is straightforward, takes around half an hour and involves an assessment of risk, together with the provision of free smoke alarms and advice to householders and families, as required.”
